Even though I’ve spent most of my life as a sun-loving Florida girl, ever since we moved to Alaska, winter has quickly become my favorite season.
There’s nothing like the rush of playing in the falling snow, then cozying up to a warm fireplace with hot winter drinks.
Sure, you could simply splash a bit of Bailey’s into a latte. Or you could up your winter cocktail game with these beauties!
Read on for some of the best winter drink recipes with and without alcohol to keep you feeling toasty both inside and out!
Spiked Chocolate Cherry Coffee
For a perky little pick-me-up, try making this Spiked Chocolate Cherry Coffee! It’s simple to make with a Keurig coffee maker. Just pop in a k-cup of Cafe Mocha, then add a ½ teaspoon of grenadine and a splash of Rum Chata.
If you haven’t tasted grenadine before, it’s a bright red, non-alcoholic syrup. While true grenadine is made with pomegranates, I find that most store bought versions taste like cherries!
For a coffee-free version, or if you don’t have a Keurig, make hot chocolate and add the grenadine and Rum Chata. It reminds me of a box of my favorite chocolate covered cherries!
The Grinch Cocktail
Midori Sours were my drink of choice in my early 20s, so this Grinchy cocktail is a nice throwback to the nights I could stay up past 10pm!
Warm Winter Rum Punch
While living in Puerto Rico, I adored getting a rum punch any time we went to dinner. It was so interesting to see the variety of ways places would make rum punch, and they were almost always tasty!
Living in Alaska makes it a bit more difficult to find a good rum punch anywhere. Plus, it tends to give me a breezy summer vibe, which doesn’t quite match the -10 degree temperatures outside.
This warm winter rum punch absolutely does the trick, though! It’s the perfect cocktail for curling up in front of the fireplace!
Cranberry Christmas Margarita
So you live where a cold snap is when it gets below 70 degrees, hmm? Not to worry, this slushy margarita will put you in the holiday spirit while keeping you nice and cool.
Raspberry Cream Mimosa
Mimosas aren’t just for Sunday brunch anymore when you treat yo self to this amazing raspberry cream mimosa. Only 4 ingredients, none of which is OJ, make this a creamy dream come true!
Spiced Cranberry Hot Toddy
Hot toddies are a classic warm winter drink, and this refined sugar-free cranberry version is yummy without the sugar crash!
Maker’s Mark Kentucky Coffee
I’ve literally never been to Kentucky, but I’m totally down for going there if they have drinks that taste like this! The cinnamon simple syrup gives it a nice warm spiciness.
Wild Turkey Apple Cocktail
A few years ago we were gifted a bottle of Wild Turkey American Honey Whiskey at a White Elephant gift exchange (thank you, mystery gift giver!) and I wasn’t sure what to do with it at first. Well, I quickly learned how delish it is when paired with apple juice or apple cider! It’s the perfect warm, sweet, appley winter drink.
Holiday guests coming to visit? Here are quick and easy ways to get your home ready for guests!
If you’re planning a party, you don’t want to spend the entire night playing bartender. A crockpot is a perfect way to make a batch of a warm and toasty treat.
Slow Cooker Candy Cane White Hot Chocolate
This slow cooker minty white hot chocolate is the perfect way to please a large group of people with a wintery taste. Keep it on low and your guests can refill their mugs throughout the night.
Thanksgiving Sangria
Sangria is one of my favorite drinks. It just feels so lush and exotic, doesn’t it? This warm slow cooker recipe is smooth, perfectly sweet, and great for parties, not just Thanksgiving!
Acid Reflux Smoothie
Giant feasts can be a bit rough on the tummy when you’re trying to fit in all the turkey, ham, stuffing, and other amazing side dishes and desserts. If you’re feeling a bit torn up inside, try drinking this smoothie to settle your stomach.
